Dinner Time

With working during dinner time I always enjoy dinner at home with the kids. Watching them grow up and become handy in the kitchen is so fun to watch. Leah and Derrick are turning into such helpers. They both help with setting the table and clearing the table. We all take dishes out of the dish washer and are working on putting them in. The pest part of dinner is the eating. Watching Leah eat everything in sight and Derrick do everything to avoid eating so he can go back to playing. He leads our blessing every meal.

Catching Up.

What is going on??? Well Derrick is really a potty champ. Not 100% but getting there. He his a man on a schedule. I am really rethinking the fact that I taught him how to pee in the grass. Now every time we go out to play he wants to pee in the grass. Let me backtrack here. We had gone to "Kids Dig It" by 4H last weekend at the fair grounds. I had asked numerous times if he had to go before we left ( 15 minute drive with no bathrooms). As i strap him into the car seat he tells me "I have to go pee". Need less to say the bathrooms were forever away. "I have to pee now mommy". So I opened the car doors pulled his pants off and he peed in the grass. He did not stop talking about it. I am frightened to death that he will be at school and go pee out side....

Leah is now going to "school". She is going to the same school that Derrick attends. Her first teacher was Derrick's first teacher too. Everyone at the school said that she is doing very well for her first week. She is very friendly and seems to get along with everyone. Except for one. Day two, she was the victim of a non marking bite. No harm, no damage. She had her first ride in the forward facing car seat. LOVED IT!!!!!! Her and Derrick just laugh and laugh at each other. If they are not laughing they are singing and dancing. I hope that the two of them continue to be as thick as they are now.

Big Boy Underpants

Here is Little Derrick's first boat ride. Labor Day, the neighbor across the street invited the Derricks to join him and his son for a quick trip on the lake. Lil D LOVED it.
Here is a shot for Grandma's house. All 3 of the kids had a blast in the pool. D really caught on on how to swim. Leah, just laughed and splashed. She did not have much to do with the float but loves the floaties!!!

We are now in our first pairs of big boy underwear. Derrick picked out some Handy Manny and Disney. He had one accident at school the first day and 2 the second. We will continue to work on it. Daycare said not to be discouraged and keep going. Still having difficulty with uploading pictures.

Leah is a full fledged walker. I am still surprised she has not had any BIG falls. She has always fallen so gracefully, butt first. She is still small at last check 19 lbs and 29 inches. I am still keeping her in the rear facing car seat for a few more weeks till she packs on a few pounds. We lucked out this week at Target and picked up some Graco upper-mid grade car seats for $50 each. The only feature it is missing is the recline position. We do not use it much for Derrick so I guess I will not miss it.

Please pray for her we need a miracle. Thank you.

Miss Leah

I can and can not believe that she is growing up so fast. Guessing that having and older brother as active as Derrick, you kind of have to. Leah is on the brink of 10 months old. At here last appointment at 9 months she was 17 pounds and 27 inches. She is right on target for her growth based on birth weight and sitting comfortably at the 5oth percentile for all others. She is a speed crawler and has been pulling up on everything. She has gone one handed to pick things up but has yet to let completely go. She has her 2 bottom teeth in. She loves table food. Green beans, carrots, pasta, chicken and any kind of cracker (as you can see she loves a cheesy poof) are on her menu and she is eating less and less jar food. Words, I say loosely are: dada, daik (derrick), caca (Sasha), mmmaa, tap, and uh oh. Leah has begun to wave, OK just a hand up on the air but I say a wave. She wants to do what ever Derrick is up to. Leah is still having a bit of skin irritation here and here but is is so random. One day she will eat strawberry's and bananas and be fine the next a rash will appear. We treat it with some otc cream and she is fine. Leah continues to sleep all night, almost every night.

This girl loves her Cheesy Poofs

Who needs teething toys when you have spoons

That you can get yourself??

Derrick Update...imitation is flattery

We took this picture the day they got the stitches out. It has healed up very well. Derrick has still not slowed down.

Derrick has really learned to be a 'help around the house". He loves the dust buster so I thought is was time to step up to the big leagues. Stick VAC... he was very good with it. The big vacuum was too heavy for him.

Next claen the coffee table.

First step spray PLEDGE MULTI SURFACE (i love this stuff)

Rub the cleaner in the table.

When you are done, get your hair ready, slap on some accessories and hit the town.

(yes he is wearing one of Leah's hair bows and my necklace. I am so glad he skipped my heals).

See you soon....

Leah's update is next stay tuned...

Green Beans, Glass Jars and Tile Floors...

are not a good mix, especially if you have a two year old in there.

Last Friday Derrick George and I had our first trip to the ER. Derrick was putting away Leah's baby food on her shelf in the pantry.I was at the table feeding Leah. Every other jar he came to me to tell me what it was and what color it is. He was showing me green beans and rice as he was running back to the pantry he tripped over the leg of the high chair and hit the floor with the glass jar of green beans. A loud scream penetrated the room. I fly out of my chair and all I see is blood and beans. First reaction FLIP OUT!! Second reaction 2.2 seconds later ER NOW. I wrapped his arm up in paper towel and scotch tape. Run with Leah to get her dressed (Leah was in nothing but a diaper) while blowing up Hubbys phone. Just as I was heading to the pantry to grab some of Derrick George's snackies and juice boxes (I knew that would keep him happy while waiting in the ER) Hubby walked in to the rescue. I handed of Leah and drove like a bat out of hell to the ER.

4 hours and 9 stitches later we left. It was a very jagged cut and he did sever a tendon. Fortunately he is expected to have a full recovery with no side effects besides a scar.

Special thanks to Nicole out ER nurse and a dear friend to me. She made sure her "Georgie Porgie" is good after all the stitches were done she said she owes him a puppy, lots of candy and to play football. She had to keep him still while the DR did the stitching. If some one asked him what happened the first few days after it happened, he would say, " Cole did it". Thanks Nicole again for your help.

He is still playing non stop like nothing happened. He hates to have us clean it, but I am beginning to think he is pulling my leg a bit. Last night he was laughing while we were patting it dry " it tickles mommy". Stitches come out Monday. Thanks to Molly to for checking it the other night, I was afraid it was getting infected. It is OK.

Yep I am Here

Last week we hit the road for a family vacation. After 24 hours and 1500 miles we made the tour of (most) my family. we stopped first in Atlanta to see Mike, Tara Evan and Conner. We missed Mike by a few minutes bc he wasc alled out just as we were in his area (he was at work). Derrick and Evan had a blast with each other as always.Leah wanted to join but she could not keep up with the two of them. I just love the two of them together. Conner was so sweet. He and Big Derrick had a good nap wile Tara and I kept entertained by the boys and Leah. We left there and headed up to my dad's place in Greenville. Spent all Saturday with them. Derrick George had a blast in the yard swinging and playing golf. They live on a golf course and Derrick loved to cheer on the golfers as they played by. I really wanted a picture of Derrick on the green but the course was a bit busy (the rain did not help either). We went to downtown Greenville for the afternoon. They were having the Ducky Derby and the park was "quackin" with tons of sights to see and do. I still need to see if I had a winning duck. I could really use $3900 in groceries. We headed out at 1:30 AM to make it to my grandmother's house. Lil D sleep off and on. When he was awake he just looked out the window. Not a peep. Leah slept like a, well you know. We arrived in Richmond right on time. The kids had a blast at the house. It rained almost the whole time. We really did not do much while we were there but spending time with the family was the goal. We did take a small trip to Fredricksburg to meet up with a great friend who is living in DC.

We did find the most random and yet frightening place ever in NC. It is called JR. It is a sight. We had seen billboards for miles and miles so we thought is would be good to stop. It was an outlet for outlets. This place sold everything from wedding dresses to crocks. Cigars to sheets. It had a perfume and jewelry counter. The picture I am painting is not so bad but let me tell you this place was bad. First there is a sign on the door "Do not use video cameras or take pictures) When we came in, the greeter said 'don't let the baby get her moth on the cart. We have animals in here". The girl at the perfume counter had a t shirt on that said "bite me". I was freaked out but still had to see what this was. We went to the bathrooms to get the kids changed (pretty clean) and then began to look around and got a snack. After a while I began to smell cigarette smoke. I start to look around and then notice ash trays in the aisles. The BAM some red neck family just puffin and shoppin away. TIME TO GO!!!!
Moral of the story.. if your gut tells you something, listen. This place was a freak show (but one hell of a story). Next time, we will go up a few more miles and hit the REAL outlets. I will get some pictures up by the weekend.
Blog at you later.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Break for Spring

Because we are too young for spring breaks we just break for spring. Over the last few weeks we have had some visitors swing into town. First Christina and Jason came over from the west coast with Ryleigh. Derrick and her had some good times with a new friend while mommy got to catch up with her old friends.

After Easter some of Derrick's family stopped by on their way back up north. Here is Derrick's cousin Andree and his girls.

Little Derrick had fun with his cousins

My Leah basking in the sun. I really love this one.

Grandma stayed for a bit and had fun playing kick ball with the kids.

We also attempted a craft project. We had white curtains and pink and blue fabric paint. The goal was to get the kids hand and foot prints on the panels. Derrick was all for it...

till Leah's turn. He was DONE!! He did not want anything to do with it at ALL.
Grandma and Leah

See you soon.
