Green Beans, Glass Jars and Tile Floors...

are not a good mix, especially if you have a two year old in there.

Last Friday Derrick George and I had our first trip to the ER. Derrick was putting away Leah's baby food on her shelf in the pantry.I was at the table feeding Leah. Every other jar he came to me to tell me what it was and what color it is. He was showing me green beans and rice as he was running back to the pantry he tripped over the leg of the high chair and hit the floor with the glass jar of green beans. A loud scream penetrated the room. I fly out of my chair and all I see is blood and beans. First reaction FLIP OUT!! Second reaction 2.2 seconds later ER NOW. I wrapped his arm up in paper towel and scotch tape. Run with Leah to get her dressed (Leah was in nothing but a diaper) while blowing up Hubbys phone. Just as I was heading to the pantry to grab some of Derrick George's snackies and juice boxes (I knew that would keep him happy while waiting in the ER) Hubby walked in to the rescue. I handed of Leah and drove like a bat out of hell to the ER.

4 hours and 9 stitches later we left. It was a very jagged cut and he did sever a tendon. Fortunately he is expected to have a full recovery with no side effects besides a scar.

Special thanks to Nicole out ER nurse and a dear friend to me. She made sure her "Georgie Porgie" is good after all the stitches were done she said she owes him a puppy, lots of candy and to play football. She had to keep him still while the DR did the stitching. If some one asked him what happened the first few days after it happened, he would say, " Cole did it". Thanks Nicole again for your help.

He is still playing non stop like nothing happened. He hates to have us clean it, but I am beginning to think he is pulling my leg a bit. Last night he was laughing while we were patting it dry " it tickles mommy". Stitches come out Monday. Thanks to Molly to for checking it the other night, I was afraid it was getting infected. It is OK.

Yep I am Here

Last week we hit the road for a family vacation. After 24 hours and 1500 miles we made the tour of (most) my family. we stopped first in Atlanta to see Mike, Tara Evan and Conner. We missed Mike by a few minutes bc he wasc alled out just as we were in his area (he was at work). Derrick and Evan had a blast with each other as always.Leah wanted to join but she could not keep up with the two of them. I just love the two of them together. Conner was so sweet. He and Big Derrick had a good nap wile Tara and I kept entertained by the boys and Leah. We left there and headed up to my dad's place in Greenville. Spent all Saturday with them. Derrick George had a blast in the yard swinging and playing golf. They live on a golf course and Derrick loved to cheer on the golfers as they played by. I really wanted a picture of Derrick on the green but the course was a bit busy (the rain did not help either). We went to downtown Greenville for the afternoon. They were having the Ducky Derby and the park was "quackin" with tons of sights to see and do. I still need to see if I had a winning duck. I could really use $3900 in groceries. We headed out at 1:30 AM to make it to my grandmother's house. Lil D sleep off and on. When he was awake he just looked out the window. Not a peep. Leah slept like a, well you know. We arrived in Richmond right on time. The kids had a blast at the house. It rained almost the whole time. We really did not do much while we were there but spending time with the family was the goal. We did take a small trip to Fredricksburg to meet up with a great friend who is living in DC.

We did find the most random and yet frightening place ever in NC. It is called JR. It is a sight. We had seen billboards for miles and miles so we thought is would be good to stop. It was an outlet for outlets. This place sold everything from wedding dresses to crocks. Cigars to sheets. It had a perfume and jewelry counter. The picture I am painting is not so bad but let me tell you this place was bad. First there is a sign on the door "Do not use video cameras or take pictures) When we came in, the greeter said 'don't let the baby get her moth on the cart. We have animals in here". The girl at the perfume counter had a t shirt on that said "bite me". I was freaked out but still had to see what this was. We went to the bathrooms to get the kids changed (pretty clean) and then began to look around and got a snack. After a while I began to smell cigarette smoke. I start to look around and then notice ash trays in the aisles. The BAM some red neck family just puffin and shoppin away. TIME TO GO!!!!
Moral of the story.. if your gut tells you something, listen. This place was a freak show (but one hell of a story). Next time, we will go up a few more miles and hit the REAL outlets. I will get some pictures up by the weekend.
Blog at you later.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
